My Favorite Toothpaste

Okay, this post will start out a bit strange, but I'll get to the point in a minute. I am a lifelong sufferer of canker sores. Not the fever blisters people get on their lips. I'm talking about those ulcers you get in your mouth sometimes that make eating and brushing your teeth the most painful experiences in the world. If you suffer from them, you know what I mean. I would get at least one a month, sometimes several a month. Being a physician, I had researched every treatment known to man for this condition. I had tried all sorts of gels and medicines to no avail. Then a few years ago, I read about this:
You see, regular toothpaste has an ingredient in it called Sodium Laurel Sulfate, or SLS. It's what makes the toothpaste foam up in your mouth. (As it turns out, shampoos and other foaming products have SLS as well). But Rembrandt Canker Sore toothpaste doesn't have SLS. Bloggers I had read claimed that after using this toothpaste, they didn't get as many canker sores -
somehow the SLS causes them. So I figured what the heck. And I'm here to tell you that after using this stuff for over 2 years now, I have not had ONE. I'm serious. This stuff is legit.

So, now for the point of this post. When you are preparing to
move overseas for an extended time, you start thinking about things like this. Rembrandt Canker Sore Toothpaste is hard to find in the USA. Getting it in Africa is out of the question. What am I to do? Well, order bulk quantities of the stuff and pack it over. (I ordered it online last week, and it came yesterday. I've never been so excited to open a box of dental hygiene products.) We are allowed seven bags weighing no more than 50 pounds each when we board for Africa. But you can bet that my supply of SLS-free toothpaste will be in there...

  2. I am so getting this & ordering right now. I get canker sores, too, but when I take malarone, they are inevitable and I start malarone next week. Thanks for the tip!

  3. It is, indeed, an incredible toothpaste! Its makers probably thought about those sores that most people complain about. Congratulations on finding the perfect toothpaste for your family! :D
